The Complete Guide to Your First Shipment on Tutufy

Everything you need to know as a first-time Scouter — from posting your request to confirming delivery.

Why Tutufy?

Traditional international couriers can be expensive, slow, and impersonal. Tutufy flips the model entirely — connecting you with real travelers flying your route who have spare luggage space. This peer-to-peer approach means your items arrive faster (often within days, not weeks), cost significantly less, and are hand-carried by a verified person you can communicate with directly.

Whether you're sending a birthday gift to a family member abroad, shipping documents that need to arrive urgently, or forwarding personal items after a move, Tutufy offers a smarter alternative to the traditional shipping experience.

Step 1: Create Your Account & Get Verified

Before you can post your first shipment, you'll need to complete our KYC (Know Your Customer) verification. This is a one-time process that takes about 5–10 minutes. You'll upload a clear photo of your government-issued ID — passport, driver's licence, or national ID card — and take a live selfie for facial matching.

This verification protects everyone on the platform. Travelers need to know they're dealing with a real, verified individual, and you need the same assurance about the person carrying your items. Once verified, you're ready to start shipping.

Step 2: Post Your Shipment Request

From the home screen, tap 'Send an Item'. You'll be guided through a simple form:

  • Origin & Destination — Where is the item now, and where does it need to go?
  • Item Details — Provide a clear description, estimated weight, and approximate dimensions.
  • Delivery Window — When do you need the item delivered by? Flexible dates get more traveler matches.
  • Special Notes — Any handling instructions, fragility concerns, or coordination preferences.

Be as detailed and honest as possible. Accurate descriptions help travelers decide quickly and reduce the chance of issues later. Remember: your item must remain unsealed so the traveler can inspect it before accepting.

Step 3: Review Traveler Offers

Once your request is live, verified travelers on matching routes can send you offers. Each offer includes the traveler's price per kilogram (they set their own rates — Tutufy doesn't dictate pricing), their travel dates, verification status, star rating, and number of completed deliveries.

Take your time reviewing offers. A slightly higher price from a traveler with a 4.9-star rating and 50+ deliveries might be worth more than the cheapest option from a newcomer. You can also message travelers directly to ask questions before accepting.

Step 4: Arrange the Handoff

After accepting an offer, you'll coordinate the item pickup through in-app chat. Agree on a time and location — many users meet near airports, train stations, or central city locations.

At the handoff, the traveler will inspect your item. This is a critical part of Tutufy safety model: all items must be unsealed and open for inspection. The traveler needs to verify that the contents match your description and that nothing prohibited is included. Both parties confirm the handoff in-app with photo verification, which creates a timestamped record.

Step 5: Track & Confirm Delivery

Once your item is with the traveler, you'll receive real-time status updates: 'Picked Up', 'In Transit', 'Arrived at Destination', and 'Delivered'. The traveler may also share optional location check-ins during the trip.

When the item arrives, you (or your designated recipient) will confirm delivery in the app. Upload a photo of the received item as proof. Once confirmed, the escrow payment is released to the traveler. If there's any issue — damage, missing items, or non-delivery — you can raise a dispute within 24 hours.

Tips for a Smooth First Experience

  • Start with something non-urgent for your first shipment so you can learn the flow without pressure.
  • Choose travelers with strong ratings and multiple completed deliveries.
  • Communicate clearly and promptly — respond to messages within a few hours.
  • Pack items carefully but leave them unsealed. Use bubble wrap or padding inside an open bag.
  • Be flexible with dates — the more flexible your window, the more traveler matches you'll receive.
  • Keep all communication within the app for your protection and a clear record.
