PROHIBITED ITEMS POLICY

IMPORTANT:

This policy is not exhaustive. Items permissible under this list may still be prohibited under applicable airline regulations, customs law, or the laws of the destination country. Users are solely responsible for independently verifying compliance with all applicable regulations. When in doubt, do not ship.

1. PURPOSE AND SCOPE

This Prohibited Items Policy defines categories of items that may not be listed, transported, or facilitated through the Tutufy Platform regardless of jurisdiction, travel route, or claimed purpose.

Tutufy’s Prohibited Items Policy exists to protect Users, third parties, and the public from harm; to ensure compliance with applicable laws and airline regulations; and to maintain the integrity and legality of the Platform. Tutufy reserves the right to update this Policy at any time without prior notice.

2. ABSOLUTELY PROHIBITED ITEMS

The following items are STRICTLY PROHIBITED on the Platform under all circumstances and without exception:

2.1 Illegal and Controlled Substances

  • Narcotics, controlled substances, marijuana/cannabis (regardless of legality in any jurisdiction), prescription medications belonging to another person, or any substance controlled under applicable national or international law;

  • Substances represented as legal alternatives to controlled substances.

2.2 Weapons and Dangerous Materials

  • Firearms, handguns, rifles, shotguns, or any functional weapon;
  • Ammunition, cartridges, gunpowder, or propellants;
  • Explosives, blasting agents, detonators, or incendiary devices;
  • Switchblades, gravity knives, balisong/butterfly knives, or other prohibited bladed weapons;
  • Stun guns, tasers, or electroshock devices (unless permitted as carry-on by applicable airline and customs rules, in which case the Traveler remains solely responsible for compliance);
  • Replica or toy weapons that may be mistaken for real firearms.

2.3 Hazardous Materials

  • Flammable liquids, gases, or solids (including lighter fluid, fuels, and aerosols);
  • Corrosive materials;
  • Radioactive materials;
  • Toxic or poisonous substances;
  • Biological hazards, pathogens, or infectious materials;

  • Items bearing counterfeit trademarks or violating intellectual property rights;
  • Stolen property of any kind;
  • Fraudulent identification documents.

2.5 Items Harmful to Persons or Fauna and Flora

  • Child sexual abuse material or any pornographic material depicting minors;
  • Endangered species, protected wildlife, or products derived therefrom (subject to CITES regulations);
  • Live animals (unless separately and expressly accommodated through proper regulatory channels entirely outside the Platform);
  • Human remains or body parts;
  • Soil, sand, or geological materials prohibited under agricultural import/export laws.

2.6 Internationally Regulated Items

  • Items subject to international trade sanctions or embargoes;
  • Items banned from import or export by the country of origin or destination;
  • Cultural heritage items, antiquities, or artifacts subject to UNESCO protection or national heritage laws;
  • Dual-use goods or technologies subject to export control regulations.

3. CONDITIONALLY RESTRICTED ITEMS

The following items may be shipped only with prior compliance with all applicable laws, customs regulations, and airline requirements. The Sender and Traveler are solely responsible for ensuring full compliance. Tutufy does not provide guidance on compliance and assumes no liability:

3.1 Food Items

  • Fresh meats, poultry, seafood, or perishable food products — restrictions vary significantly by destination country and are the sole responsibility of the Sender;
  • Fresh fruits and vegetables — may be prohibited under agricultural import restrictions of the destination country;
  • Dairy products — subject to country-specific import rules;
  • Any food items subject to customs declaration requirements.

3.2 Plant Materials

  • Seeds, soil, or live plants — may be subject to strict phytosanitary regulations;
  • Wooden items that may harbor pests;
  • Any plant material requiring phytosanitary certificates.

3.3 Liquids and Gels

  • Liquids exceeding airline carry-on restrictions (typically 100ml per container in containers not exceeding 1 liter total, in a resealable bag) unless checked and permitted;
  • Alcoholic beverages — subject to quantity limits, customs duties, and airline policies.

3.4 Prescription Medications

  • Personal prescription medications may be carried only in the patient’s own possession, in original labeled containers, with valid prescription documentation;
  • Quantities must be consistent with personal use for the duration of travel.

3.5 High-Value Items

  • Items with a declared value exceeding USD $2,500 require prior written approval from Tutufy and may be subject to additional verification, documentation, and insurance requirements;
  • Jewelry, precious metals, gemstones, and luxury goods — Senders must accurately declare full market value; customs duties are the sole responsibility of the Sender.

4. TRAVELER INSPECTION RIGHTS AND OBLIGATIONS

Travelers have the right — and are strongly encouraged — to physically inspect all items before accepting any shipment. Travelers should:

  • Request the Sender to open any packaging for inspection;
  • Refuse any package they have not personally inspected;
  • Decline any shipment containing items they are uncertain about;
  • Never carry items based solely on a Sender’s verbal assurances;
  • Understand that in many jurisdictions, ignorance is not a defense to customs violations.

Tutufy assumes no responsibility for items that a Traveler accepts without adequate inspection. The decision to carry any item is solely the Traveler’s, and all consequences of that decision rest with the Traveler.

5. CUSTOMS AND BORDER CONTROL

Users are solely responsible for compliance with all customs and border control regulations applicable to their transactions. Tutufy displays general information about common customs restrictions as a convenience only; such information does not constitute legal advice and may not be current or complete. Users should consult official government customs resources for their specific routes.

Tutufy strongly recommends that Senders accurately declare all items and values. Undervaluation of goods for customs purposes is illegal and may subject both the Sender and the Traveler to criminal liability, fines, and confiscation of goods.

6. REPORTING VIOLATIONS

All Users are required to report any suspected violations of this Policy immediately. Travelers who discover Prohibited Items after accepting a shipment should:

  • (a) not proceed with transport;
  • (b) contact Tutufy at safety@tutufy.com; and
  • (c) follow the instructions of any relevant authorities. Tutufy will cooperate with law enforcement in connection with any suspected violations.

7. CONSEQUENCES OF VIOLATIONS

Violations of this Prohibited Items Policy may result in: immediate account suspension or permanent termination; forfeiture of any escrowed funds; reporting to law enforcement and regulatory authorities; civil or criminal liability for the User; and full indemnification obligations to Tutufy for any resulting losses. Tutufy reserves the right to take any and all actions necessary to enforce the violations of this Policy.
